Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026

Overview

Live Earth is a public data-visualisation tool that displays real-time information from freely available sources. It runs entirely in your browser and does not require an account, login, or any form of registration.

Data we collect

We do not collect, store, or process any personal data. There are no analytics trackers, no cookies for profiling, and no server-side session storage.

Geolocation

When you use the “Go to your location” feature, the browser asks your permission to share your coordinates. This data is used only locally in your browser to centre the map. It is never sent to our servers or any third party.

Cookies & local storage

Live Earth may use browser local storage to remember your last camera position and visual preferences (e.g., theme, visible layers). These are purely functional and contain no identifying information.

Third-party services

Map tiles are served by CARTO (basemap) and Esri (satellite imagery). These services may log standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, user agent) per their own privacy policies. We have no control over that data.

Real-time feeds are fetched from public APIs (ADSB.lol, USGS, GDELT, etc.). Your browser makes these requests directly — our server does not proxy your identity to any data provider.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel, which may collect anonymised performance and edge-routing data as described in their privacy policy.

Children

Live Earth is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
